What is Cotton Terrycloth?

Terrycloth is often used interchangeably with the term ‘towel’, and it refers to a particular type of weave.

Normally, fabric is woven from yarn in two directions—vertical and horizontal. Terrycloth uses an extra set of vertical threads; one set forms the fabric’s foundation and the other creates the fluffy loops. These loops increase the fabric’s surface area, making it more absorbent and soft to the touch.
